Changes to Auto Insurance coming in 2021
Starting in May 2021, all British Columbians will be protected under a new type of auto insurance, called Enhanced Care coverage. This new auto insurance for B.C. will result in even more generous care, recovery and wage loss benefits and provide long-term affordability and stability to auto insurance in B.C.
ICBC is working to better understand how this could benefit customers. Just as today, the cost of premiums will depend on a variety of factors, most notably whether you purchase full Optional insurance with ICBC. Premium costs will also depend on the level of Third Party Liability coverage you carry and whether your vehicle is primarily operated in B.C. or outside B.C.
We’re focused on supporting our customers through this process so that drivers will be ready come May 2021. In the coming months, we will be working with our customers to understand how we can best support them during this transition to Enhanced Care coverage.
